Mrs. Julie Scrivens B.A. B.Ed. OCT

Principal

Grade 3 & 4 and French

Julie has been teaching at Sonrise since 1996 and in 2007 she was hired with the dual role of principal and teacher. Julie graduated from Brock University in St. Catharines where she received both her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education in a concurrent degree program.

With a Major in Child Studies, she comes prepared with an academic background on the developmental, intellectual, and social needs of children. Since that time she has completed additional qualifications courses in Special Education and Computers in the Classroom.

Julie also holds her Elementary Principal Certification through the Association of Christian Schools International and has received training through the Ontario Christian School Administrators' Association.

Mrs. Gryce

Mrs. Donna Gryce B.A. B.Ed. OCT

Junior and Senior Kindergarten

Donna is a graduate of Redeemer University College in Hamilton, Ontario, and has been teaching Kindergarten since 2005. Being an English major, Donna has a strong interest in developing early literacy skills. Her favourite part of teaching is storytelling and reading aloud to her students. Donna also enjoys using her creativity during arts and crafts, assisting her students in creating theme books for each season. Donna is excited to be working close to home this year and being part of the Sonrise community.

Mrs. Holly Verkuyl B.A. B.Ed. OCT

Grade 1 & 2

Holly has a strong interest in reading and developing children's literacy skills. She is excited to be teaching at a Christian school and with the added bonus of it being in her hometown.

Mr. Stephen Morden B.A. B.Ed. OCT

Grade 5, 6 & 7

Stephen is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Music and Lakehead University in Education. He has been supply teaching in the area for the past year and is thrilled to be able to put his talents to use for Sonrise this year. He enjoys teaching math and science, and always loves bringing the natural world into his lessons.

Mrs. Joan Crawford

Secretary

Joan has worked faithfully behind the desk at Sonrise since 1998. She takes on many roles at the school and is available to answer any of your questions.
